So does this one work? I have a craftsman and other dewalt and they just give me false positives all the time. There has to be a better way...

Looks like we're still about 5 years out from an expiration of Franklin's patent on the multiple-sensor stud finder. Until then, you're stuck paying the $30 to $45 Franklin charges for what is arguably the gold standard.

Good luck!

Use a small neodymium magnet to find the drywall nails/screws. Under those are studs.

I can't help but chime in that if you want a stud finder that isn't just a magnet or something, get a Franklin brand wide multisensor one for $20 or $30. They own the patent for stacked sensor stud finders, so no one else makes them, but its so worth it.

Amazon has it for $60. Where are you finding it for $30-$45?

Lowe's and Home Depot have the 7 and 9 sensor models in that range. I also see that Franklin sells a 13-sensor model directly on Amazon for $54.

Good luck!

P.S. - Costco also intermittently stocks the premium 13 sensor model for a significantly discounted price. This is where I've purchased the unit twice (once for me, another time for family).

Yeah, I've yet to find a stud finder that is consistently accurate. Maybe I just need to throw some real money at one and be done with it

Trash. I have it and hate it. It couldn't find a stud even with no drywall on it! Permanently sits in a box with other misfit stud finders. The magnet stud finders are the only thing I will use...https://www.homedepot.com/pep/C-H.../202563186
