Ive had cheapo no name chinese company ones that had really flimsy frother sticks that would bend and wobble and be almost useless and also not be very powerful or need a charge a lot. They also have a coiled frother tip that would get protein powder globs stuck in it everytime and very hard to clean.
This unit is built much much better, has a quality frother that wont bend and a flat frother tip that doesnt catch any globs at all.
I have the frother unit that I just use as a stand but I understand it froths milk well too. But for a hand blender it works great for me for powders + milk mixes.
