I am pulling a 2 TB out of my PS5 just for this. That thing is worth more than gold at this point.
Yeah, I need to upgrade my new laptop to 2 TB, so I was scavenging my kids' PS5s hoping I had put anything over 1 TB in them - alas, I unfortunately failed in my quest...
Hah! Joke's on them. I can't afford any memory to "enclose" in this thing.
I loaded up on cheap 512s and 1tbs years ago. The 256's effectively became flash drives in these enclosures. Or rather the similar version that does SATA and NVMe.
Anyway...at some point the cycle will swing the other way, and SSDs will be cheap again. AI market will become saturated and inevitably crash.
Is this Realtek RTL9210B? I've had so many hit and miss with this chipset I don't want to risk burning a SSD because they're so expensive now. I mean even SDCARD prices are ridiculous. I had a card die on my new eufy cam and I couldn't believe the prices: even garbage cards are expensive. Who said it's only AI that's driving the prices up? Phone ram requires at least 8Gb nowadays and many going to 12Gb. AI is gonna stay becos it's their way of collecting everything about us and datamine it: this is obvious!
