I've got 144 Hz refresh. Does this REALLY make that much of a difference? Not playing fortnite or anything mostly rts and rpg

For those kinds of games it doesn't matter much past 120+. The real difference would be going from IPS/VA to OLED.

This is one of those "what you don't know won't hurt you". 144Hz is amazing for single player gaming and PvP. But once you see something like 240Hz, ofc you will want 240Hz to be the new "minimum" for you. I play both PvP and single player games on a laptop, I like to limit the single player games to about 120fps just to reduce fan noise (laptop). My monitor is 1ms, and I assume that when I do buy a 0.03ms monitor someday, that I will never be able to go back.

Combine that info and specs with OLED, your "bare minimum" standards will likely be raised quite a lot. Whereas rn on your 144Hz for single player games, you are not being held back and can wait until it dies until something even better comes out.

I'm 99.9% sure that this is the QD-OLED panel that everyone is trying to get rid of. Pitiful 200 nits of brightness and lots of banding issues. I this price range, stick with WO-OLED. There are still some decent ones in this range.

What other models with this 240hz QD-OLED panel are you referencing? I haven't done a ton of research but when I was looking most people were having issues with the new 280hz tandem woled panels having severe banding.

From Asus website: Brightness (HDR, Peak) : 400 cd/㎡. It weirdly doesnt say anything about typical brightness for this model.

Meh. It's not even certified HDR400. I agree with others that this is a cut down model that they are trying to get rid of.
not saying that's it's a bad buy, but I doubt this was ever $750

400 nits doesn't seem great and I'd worry about that in direct light but still seems quite good specs overall for the price range

That's really low, my XG27AQDMG is supposedly 1300 in HDR and 260 in SDR. I'd probably avoid this model, pay a little more for a better OLED.

Unless you're a professional competitive gamer, anything above 120hz is extreme dimininishing returns and chasing the dragon. My current monitor does 180hz and I cant tell a difference between that and 120. I'm sure someone can, but it's such a fringe case that it's not worth to spending money for it unless you know it's something you want. Not to mention you also need the increasingly powerful hardware to get those types of frame rates, or drop your quality settings way down. I'll take my 1440p 120hz high settings and on my 70 series gpu all day long.

So i pulled the trigger and bought this model because for the price it seemed very decent for what it's offering.

So far the features are fantastic, get's WAY more than bright enough for me in my room with and LED lamp above me.

Gaming on it is fantastic and the G-Sync compat feature is working amazingly.

The only thing i don't like is the flicker but that isn't even that noticeable to me unless im sitting in ONE spot playing a game it fantastic otherwise !

This is "z" model the budget line and the msrp is not $599. $599 is for the "g" model you can find on asus website with 1000nits hdr and WOLED glossy. that's why walmart is not putting $599 as original price
