This LAMTTO 11 inch wireless CarPlay screen is mainly appealing as a simple add on for older cars, with quick wireless Android Auto and CarPlay connectivity, responsive Google Maps, and a screen that looks better than expected. The larger display is a clear draw, and the unit works well for everyday driving and even car rentals. The main caveats are that this style of cheap screen can be unreliable over time, and this 11 inch version may lack auto dimming or a light sensor. The promo code also failed, and similar units are available for less elsewhere, so it is a practical upgrade with some trade offs.

  • The screen can work well for day-to-day navigation and media use.

    CleverPicture762Player433

  • Wireless Android Auto can connect through Bluetooth and can improve Google Maps response speed.

    Player433

  • The unit can be convenient for car rentals when frequent swapping between vehicles is needed.

    Orygun Sunset

  • Some buyers report similar generic screens working great at lower prices.

    xeene

  • A light sensor for auto-dimming may be missing on larger 11-inch models, requiring manual dimming at night.

    slipperybargainsmanDragonflyPunch

  • A promo code may fail to apply at checkout, and prices on marketplaces may rise after limited-time promos.

    kobeshopClassReptilia

  • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto listings may be confusing because built-in CarPlay or Android Auto software may be absent.

    RelaxedCreature628

  • Connection problems and black-screen failures can occur after a few months, and replacement support may vary by brand.

Make sure if you buy one of these that it includes a light sensor so it can do auto dimming and transition between day and night mode.

While I agree a light sensor is important, there was a weird trade-off when I bought a unit for my wife's car. Somehow all 11" (which was the largest size available at the time) did not have a light sensor. It disnt matter which vendor/make you chose. It was clear they were all rebadged units of the same generic unit. Some models varied in the type of stand or the camera lens (angle visible), but the main unit was the same. The only models with auto-dimming were smaller screen units (9.5" or 10"). So basically there was a tradeoff in screen size. I don't know whether that's still the case.

I went with the larger screen despite knowing there is no auto-dimming. My wife is happier with the larger screen and she doesn't usually drive at night by herself anyway. If I happen to be driving her car at night I just dim it manually.

I am confused. The description says wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, but no build-in software. So how does this thing work?

I bought one about a month ago to put in my dad's old car and it worked really well for all he's doing. It was actually the volam brand but it looks nearly identical. The cool thing is that it bluetooths to the car and also connects to the phone with wireless android auto.
The response speed of Google maps and the screen quality was much better than I expected.
