Once in a long while, SVS offers a decent sale on their entry-level PB1000 Pro which is easily their best price-to-performance sub (compared to other internet-direct subwoofer specialist companies like RSL, PSA, Hsu, etc. their subs' PtP plummets as you go up their pricing structure). Well worth the extra $100 over their SB1000 Pro which is also on sale, but is a SEALED not PORTED sub, with its inherent output limitations.

Aren't sealed and ported different use cases though? Like you can't just say one is better than the other without knowing what they will be used for. My understanding is, if you want booming bass for a home theater, go for ported. If you want tight responsive bass for a stereo system to listen to music on, you probably want sealed.

Plus, the "Pro" version of the PB1000 has much improved on the bass quality compared to the original PB1000, imo.
There is only one frequency range not two(ie music or movies).
So when people describe bass frequency, the only thing that changes are peoples preferences/expectations/bias.
Not to mention there are different levels of quality even within each of these labels!
Of course, it's A LOT more complicated than this.
In general, yes a sealed sub will provide more accurate, tight, articulated bass over ported.
On the other hand, ported will go lower on that frequency range.
You can definitely move that scale between two on a give and take basis.
It does come at a price, there is no compromise in that aspect.
There is a reason SVS makes sealed and ported versions. There is a reason most sub/speaker reviewers recommend sealed for music. And for anyone saying the frequencies are the same are arguing against something no one is claiming. Even though that's wrong, movies do, in fact, go lower... frequencies are not the issue.... how they're presented is.

You always do.
And as they pointed out there are as many "reviewers" as there are stars in the sky!
A brief, general explanation.
This is what any credible "reviewer" would recommend, they understand the science!
