I've been rewatching classic HK cinema to brush up on my Cantonese for a year end trip to Guangzhou and Hong Kong, these films still hold up.

Let me know if anyone has any recommendations for other Cantonese movies I should watch (outside of the typical John Woo movies)!

Fulltime Killer, Running Out of Time, City on Fire. Johnnie To is a good director.

Anything by Johnny To or anything that has Andy Lau in it. SPL 1 and 2. If you haven't seen the furious yet check that out far and away my favorite movie of 2026 so far.

God of Gamblers with Chow Yun Fat. Skip part II.

PTU is also good with Simon Yam.
