I recently purchased 2 Sony Ult Field 5's for $113 each at Walmart (in-store clearance only). These are for general audio use in my basement in a 400 sq. foot area. I'm running these as a pair in TWS mode.
I also recently purchased 2 Sony Ult Field 3's (Target certified refurbished) for only $50 each. These are to use with my tv for bluetooth audio. I'm running these as a pair in TWS mode.
I just picked up one of these X600s last night to try out as well at the $99 price (in store price was $104 but they matched their online price).
All 3 of these speakers sound really good for what they are. The Sony Ult 5s sound great if you keep the volume under 70%. They're warm and fairly smooth sounding. Kind of a forward midrange but a pretty easy listen. Don't sound boomy and have very good clarity and not boxy sounding at all.
I'll say the same for the Sony Ult 3's, sound is just on a smaller scale.
I only purchased a single Anker X600 unit for now. This speaker has exceptional build quality. With the bass up and spatial audio engaged (and just using the Soundcore Signature EQ preset), the speaker has a remarkable open sound quality. I placed it about 3 feet from a wall and moved back about 15 feet. At 50% volume, I'd swear I was listening to a stereo pair of speakers. The speaker just disappears into the room. If you're listening within a few feet of the speaker, it doesn't have the same effect.
The sound is a bit light in the bass but the mids and highs are very clear and natural sounding.
I'll probably pick up a 2nd speaker and run it in TWS mode and see how this sounds hooked up as tv speakers as long as the latency is good.
Finally, I also bought and returned a JBL Flip 7 (purchased for $99). The X600 absolutely sounds like a much higher tier level than that speaker.
I'm somewhat of a low end audiophile who owns some great headphones such as the FIIO FT -1 Pro, Sennheiser HD 600s, etc, and a couple of pretty good home theater systems.
I don't like boom and sizzle. I only want speakers that sound as neutral as possible (within the limitations of a small bluetooth speaker). None of these speakers have that bad quality.
If you want a bass monster and crazy volume to use outside, I wouldn't buy any of these (but the Sony Ult 5's would work okay in that scenario).
I know these went for like $69 last year but they're really a good buy currently at $99.
