Severe allergic reactions, liver warnings, heart attack/ stroke warnings, and stomach bleeding (literally have a tube on my desk). With all the potential issues, reach out to your doctor if you already have heart, liver, etc. issues. It does work pretty well, so I'm glad I reached out to my doctor first.

The potential side effects as well as the dosage amount seems over the top like 5 inch per use seems overkill but some swear by it

My dad actually suffered a heat attack from this...since then we threw it away. Slick price, but not worth the risks on our side.

Came to $7.30 for me. Sometimes my knee goes out when I'm standing back up.

I've been using the generic version on my tennis elbow for months. Seems to be working. I only use about a quarter of an inch (basically a little ball) morning and night. I was also given an oral anti-inflammatory prescription (Meloxicam), which I only took once. Seems a small, targeted topical application would be much safer than a big pill taken orally.

Voltaren Arthritis Pain Gel is an over-the-counter topical NSAID featuring 1% diclofenac sodium. It penetrates the skin directly at the source of inflammation to relieve joint pain, reduce stiffness, and improve mobility. It is primarily used for up to two body areas (hands, wrists, elbows, feet, ankles, and knees).
Do not use on the back, hips, or shoulders. Avoid applying to broken, blistered, or infected skin.
As an NSAID, it may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or stomach bleeding, especially in older adults or individuals with cardiovascular conditions.
Personally, I found it much more effective than the usual pain relieving gels (ex Ben-gay, Salonpas, etc). And have even used it on my shoulder without any ill effect. However I carefully use less than the prescribed dose due to the cautions regarding this potent over-the-counter medication.

How are those side effects any different taking any other NSAID like Ibuprofen?

In pharmacy when this drug was still relatively new, we had to emphasize the cautions and warnings with it. Surprised this went OTC tbh, was a bit shocked seeing this alert lol..

The two pack is 3.5 oz each, not 5.3 oz.
