I love the idea of this, but doesn't heat make magnets weaker and eventually cause them to lose their magnetism?

Interesting, I wonder if they make clamp on ones. Was struggling to get the vent back on our dryer the other day while trying to tighten the screw clamp.

Flex ducts are a big no no for dryers. They can accumulate enough lint overtime that they become blocked and clogged dryer vent can actually cause a fire.

How hot are you running your dryer?

Neodymium can be affected at around 170F.

The average non-commercial grade dryer runs at about 130-150.

However, you also have to take into account thermal losses from the dryer exhaust through the vent hose and to the wall.

Unless your hose is wrapped in insulation or it's a weirdly short run, there's going to be a pretty significant dropoff before it hits the wall.

They make ones that have interlocking tabs. You give it a quarter turn and they lock together.

However, those are usually entirely plastic and the locking mechanism isn't a tight fit.

Even if they don't get brittle and break over time, they can still leak a lot of hot air if they aren't constructed right.

And I have yet to see ones that include a gasket.

When you say weirdly short run... how far from the wall are you keeping the back of your dryer? This would be about a 2"-4" run for me

Yeah, that's pretty weird.

I mean, just look at the product images.

Most runs have way more hose. It's commonly sold at 6FT and designed to accordion for a reason.

Typical setups need to be pulled away from the wall to even access the exhaust.

Yours doesn't?

What problem does it exactly solve? You still have to attach the other half with screws

Yeah if its like 200-800 Degrees... Your drier vents will never get anywhere near that...

Yeah but the point of a removable duct is to clean them regularly.

To move it to clean it, yes. Then to put it back against the wall it's only a few inches from the port in the wall for exhausting to outside.
