Fluke made a great voltage detector many years go called the VoltAlert 1CA-A. It did not have any buttons or alarms, it just lit up when it detected voltage. In an attempt to add complexity, Fluke lost their way.

The fluke VoltAlert 2AC is always on. Has a test button that I never use. I always check with static. In my pocket morning to night.
