Assuming they are copper, 20 AWG wire in open air is adequate for 10 amps (assuming the temp rating of the insulation is correct). That's only 32 thousandths of an inch diameter wire. Quite thin.
18 AWG is more than adequate and is only 40 thousandths of an inch diameter.
Would I personally prefer thicker? Sure, but it's not necessary.
