Community Reviews
AllTrails Plus is the paid hiking app tier that stands out for offline trail downloads, park-wide maps, elevation views, and off trail alerts that still work without cellular service. The deal price can be pushed lower with Amex offers or promo codes, and the code has also triggered on lapsed accounts and renewals. A recurring theme is that existing memberships are hard to extend directly online, so renewal often requires canceling, letting it lapse, or using a separate account. It is a strong fit for hikers who want dependable offline navigation and are willing to work around the renewal process.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. The checkout coupon can stack with the Amex 50% offer, and the Amex credit can post after the purchase, effectively cutting the cost in half again. Some cards also trigger the offer automatically when you click through from Amex.
Yes. After purchase, auto-renew can be turned off, and renewal reminders may include a "Renew Automatically" button that must be confirmed if you want it to continue. Some users also report canceling renewal triggers a cheaper 30% off renewal offer.
Yes. Reported alternatives include a Brazilian renewal price around R$49.90/year, a 30% off renewal offer after canceling, and an Amex stack that can bring the effective cost down further. One commenter also noted Peak can be discounted with code LIVINOUTLEHR30 plus an Amex offer, though Peak is a higher tier.
Not directly online in most cases. The code can work again after a subscription lapses and drops to the free tier, or by logging in through a separate Google/website flow that creates a second account, but that may sacrifice prior account history.
Yes. Plus lets you download trails or entire parks for offline access, so navigation, elevation viewing, and off-trail watch alerts can still work without cellular service. That makes it useful in remote areas with spotty or no coverage.

I have relied on this feature extensively. It is literally a life-saver.
In Death Valley, Yellowstone, Glacier, Arches, Escalante Grand Staircase, Canyonlands, and in some other countries, where service is spotty or non-existent, and trails aren't all marked, I've downloaded trails in advance and used the app to navigate --it's great peace of mind when there are multiple trail options and I'm not certain I went the right way.
I love that when I'm on a trail, I can see where the elevation is, and even if I never look at my phone, my watch will buzz at me if I've strayed off trail. Again, in the paid version this works without a cellular connection. Priceless.
