thanks, need one for my next home (being built). I chuckled when the builder said these tools were $1000 and "in the 40 years he's been building homes, he's never used PEX-A nor has the plumber. I specified PEX-A and had the plumber rip out the PEX-B he installed before I caught what he did. I'm the architect-engineer-owner.

Why is A preferred over B in your case?

July 4th sale, so I assume through July 4th, unless extended or sold out.

I can't see the need for the cutter unless you are in a real production environment. With pex you are minimizing fittings, and therefore piping cuts, and is like maybe 6 squeezes on a ratchet cutter to cut a tube

While significantly less used then the common PEX B, PEX A is generally a better alternative because it doesn't add reductions to your water lines at every fitting. At every fitting on PEX B you are reducing the inner diameter of your pipe. With PEX A you expand the pipe over the fitting so there isn't a reduction. PEX A is more common in new construction. PEX B is more common in retrofits and repairs because it's easier to get the tools necessary for it into tighter spaces and also contractor complacency also factors into it. They use what they are used to.

You can use expandable PEX B. It's sold at HD. Much stronger.

Zurn is a good brand hybrid. It can be used as pex a or pex b. If using as pex A, make sure temperature is at least 75F for expander and contraction to work correctly. Better resistance to micro cracks with chlorine in municipal water
