JLab speakers and buds tend to be underrated, but I don't know what they were trying to do here. The crasher series was amazing, these 'party' speakers are awful. Connection issues, and sound is nowhere near as good as their previous products.

so do you have actual experience with this particular model, pr are you just judging it based on other products in the series?

I bought this last week and was very underwhelmed. It looked cool, had a decent app, had cool lights, but that's about it. It's loud but has no bass and sounds pretty bad for what it is. I wanted to replace my little Sony speaker that's the size of a coke can, but this thing had much worse sound and somehow much less bass. I spent $ 20 more and got a Soundcore Motion 300 and it's worth it.

I like Anker - higher quality on their lower cost speakers

I picked this up the last time it was under $30 for the black color and it felt heavy as a brick plus seemed well built. However, I was immediately disappointed once I fired it up and tried the various sound and eq modes with the app. The mids and highs are decent, but literally zero bass under 150hz. For the weight and the claimed wattage this thing should put out some solid bass, but no dice. Overall, sound is garbage. The smaller Anker/Soundcore and Tribit speakers sound significantly better for the same money.

Copying my comment from the other color version of this post:

It's pretty good, plenty loud but honestly I feel the bass is pretty lacking for a speaker of this size. IMO, JBLs and others at this size seem to produce more bass. I got it for $20 and I'd say it's a 9/10 at that price. At $36 though, I'd drop my rating to a 7-8/10.

When did everything start coming with obnoxious LED lighting? Especially portable Bluetooth speakers, geez.

You can turn them off. But if you are in a party mood the lights will also sync between speakers that are synced, which is pretty cool.

The RGB lights are a fun extra, but I'm more interested in battery life and sound quality. Hopefully those are solid too.
