Switch 2 games are sold locally so the Granny can easily get one at Target/Walmart/Best Buy for Junior's birthday or Christmas present, not because Nintendo still supports physical media.

Native Switch 2 games that you physically purchase just come with a card that initiates a digital download; the card in the box doesn't actually have the game itself on it. The card slot on the S2 is functionally just for backwards compatibility to OG Switch games.

Plenty of Switch 2 games reside on their cartridge; it's Game Key cards that do not.

I stand corrected. You're right - it's not all of them. The ones available as a full game on cartridge are in the minority, but they do exist.

This is one of the few games that's legitimately worth paying more for the physical copy - the entire 60GB+ resides on the cartridge itself, saving you that storage space. Worth at least 10 bucks in storage at the going microSD rate, plus you get the resale value if you ever want to offload it.

With that being said, yeah, the digital is on sale for $29 at nintendo right now, so that's a much better deal if you don't care about owning physical.
