Did you get alerted here on SD for that deal? Do you have the link?

EDIT:

Wow... I guess for Black Friday in 2025 is was $229 - same item.

Looking a bit more deeply into the pricing history of this item:
Apple recently stiffed their customer base and increased the price on this older model by $100:

Per AI:
Apple recently increased the official retail price of this iPad model by $100. On June 25, 2026, Apple implemented an unprecedented price hike across most of its Mac and iPad hardware lineups due to skyrocketing global memory and chip manufacturing costs

Retail Price Evolution
  • Original Launch Price (March 2025): $349.00
  • New Current Retail Price (Post-June 25, 2026 Hike): $449.00

$299 is a great sale price for the A16 (11th gen). Especially with recent Apple price increases on everything, including $100 on this base iPad (normally $449).

I would buy this model if I didn't already own. However, the 12th gen is expected in September, and I would guess AAFES will eventually put that model on sale similarly for $299.
