Agreed. The only reason would be for TouchID.

I just don't understand Apple's thinking. They make such great products yet their accessories like Magic Mouse and Apple Keyboard are so glaringly deficient.

I would buy an apple keyboard with TouchID in a HEARTBEAT and would pay $200 for it if it came in a MX-like black color, had illuminated keys, good key press and had TouchID

"It features an extended layout, with document navigation controls for quick scrolling and full-size arrow keys, which are great for gaming."
Does anyone use the arrow keys for gaming?

This seems pricey for a keyboard with no backlight or mechanical key switches.

It's Apple, the cult will explain to you why not having those features is a good thing.

It's the only way to have an external keyboard that can wake and unlock(touchid) a closed lid laptop setup.

I've been running final releases as well as upcoming betas of Mac OS and sadly the Touch ID on my Magic Keyboard has been broken for the last year with no permanent fix in sight.

I honestly don't know how people like this keyboard compared to something excellent like Logitech's MX range.

My Asus wireless keyboard wakes the MacBook with closed lid fine, but I do have to use the password, of course. I saved it as a macro to one of the keys, so it's one key press, but still takes a few moments longer.

I agree i have Macbook Pro M5, mac mini M4 , apple watch, iphone 16 pro max so i love apple products one would call me a fanboy but i also have a windows gaming computer too Smilie. Having said that their accessories are so disappointing. I would love to buy magic mouse and this keyboard but i just cant justify the price. I am using this wireless keyboard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TW35...tle_1&th=1 for $40 and $10 wireless mouse from same company it both work great.

You have your password saved as a macro that you can use before logging into the computer?

Doesn't seem secure.
