Had a terrible experience with these at my 2006 house. I didn't have the correct wires so I was sent a Google "power connector" to properly power it.
I'm not house dumb and believe I have the ability to follow basic instructions.
Installation instructions weren't clear and I installed it in the wrong place and my heating and cooling didn't work properly for a year.
When I finally fixed it, it still didn't work properly and it ended up burning out one of my dumb thermostats.
I hope if ppl buy this they'll have a different experience.

yeah you have to have a C wire for them and if you don't you have to install the C wire adapter which can be a total pain in the butt. I think in the newer generations it's not needed though, but they do put a disclaimer in the Alexa product description results:
The Google Nest Thermostat is designed to work without a C wire in most homes — compatible with about 85% of systems. It uses your existing heating and cooling wires to draw power and includes AAA batteries as a backup. However, a C wire IS required for:
I have a 3rd Gen installed, is this a one-for-one swap with the same wiring and screwholes? I know mine eventually will be bricked by Google so this seems like a good time to upgrade.
Check with your power company on their online stores. I have like 5 of these which I only paid $10/ea for. They go on deep discount periodically. PSE&G in particular.
