S1 was my first printer and it still works well after a year. Only issue I've had was the tiny spring disappeared when I took apart the extruder to clear out a filament jam and AC sent me a new one under warranty. This is a great deal since I paid almost 2X a year ago from AC website. Sorry, I can't compare to FF because I haven't tried one of those. Nice part about the Ace AMS is it also is a filament dryer.

I was never ever able to get the ACE filament changer system to work at all. Spent tons of time on the problem. Anycubic ignored me as if they knew it was an unsolvable problem. Some people are happy with the changer, I am not one of them and I will probably avoid Anycubic in the future.

Great deal. I have 500+ hours on my S1 combo without any real issues. Anything that I had was caused by me using old filament (6+ years old). Replaced the stock nozzle with a hardened ceramic nozzle after about 200 hours. Been a good unit. I'm running it an a S1 Max now.

I have two S1s that I haven't used for six months due to bed leveling and crappy AMS issues. One is setup with two AMS for 8 colors. I bought the aftermarket machined aluminum beds to help with the bed turning into a taco at anything higher than PLA temps but haven't installed them yet. I just bought another Flashforge AD5X, that makes 4 of them. They are way faster at color changing and printing, have better print quality without fiddling around a bunch, and just work.

For the value of the price, I feel like this is a better deal than the Flashforge AD5X. AD5X can be purchased for around $215. Enclosure kit is around $50. A 4-filament dryer is around $100. This combo includes all that and has a bigger build plate.

I have heard s1 is a lottery, some have stated they got good ones some said tacos. I have 6 anycubic printers 5 Kobra X and 1 s1 max. They work flawlessly no trouble at all.

For kids I would go with a Bambu printer (P2S) with AMS or if you want a max of 4 color prints then look into the Snapmaker U1. I think this is a good starter printer but expect to have a few more clogged filament or AMS swap issues or more print issues. Bambu will have less issues but also costs more so it's a tradeoff. I'm speaking from experience with two Kobra 3v2, one S1, multiple Bambu and one Snapmaker U1 printer.

I was one of the people who lost the Anycubic lottery. On my S1 combo I could run the same print three times, and get different results each time. Tried calibrations, adjustments, etc and just couldn't get it consistent. Also had issues with WiFi and with the AMS, so it ended up going back.

I thought maybe it was just me, but have seen so many other comments online about bed leveling issues that I didn't feel good about pulling the trigger on another one.
