This is the way. Straining through a paper filter afterwards is a little annoying, but it's easy to make small batches of cold brew easily using mason jars (or any jar) lying around.

When buying glass that will be in contact with hot liquids, you need to research the type of glass, temp rating, and thickness. If you can't find all three, then it's likely very cheap glass that will eventually shatter.

That being said, never pour boiling water in any glass container. No matter the quality. It also burns your coffee. Make sure the water is hot, but never boiling hot.
