Is this the one i want to park in my garage to be hero during a power outage? I feel like propane is easier to deal with and I'll always have 2-3 tanks for the bbq etc on hand so that should get me through a day.

If you are not familiar with portable generators then you have a lot of reading to do. This generator will likely be able to run your entire house. However, if you want to do that, you will need to have some type of transfer switch also. If your garage is physically connected to your house, you will need to move it outside when needed as well. If it is detached you will at least need to run the exhaust outside and then only if the garage is not occupied by anything that breathes. There is also the possibility of needing an inverter type generator for electronic devices if you wish to use those as well. Many newer appliances may fall into this catagory. I personally have a similar gennerator that runs most of my home. It does not get along with the UPS setups for a couple of computers, everything else runs fine. Regardless, you really need to determine how much power you actually need. A generator too large will not be very fuel efficient. If it is too small you could possibily damage what is connected to it.
