I know Kitchen Aid is a well respected brand, but after reading up online and learning that my experience is not unique, I will never buy another Kitchen Aid fridge with integrated ice maker again. Other brands aren't without issues, but they are way more common in Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool brand units.
The interior is nice but the design is bad. I will never get another fridge that has ice maker on the door instead of in the freezer.
I would prefer counter depth and would love a supplemental chest freezer.
A basic fridge would be less than $1000 on sale. A chest freezer would be less than $500.
I hate modern appliances. They are worse than the old bare-bone discolored appliances that come with the house in 1980s.
