The article you linked explicitly states several times that there is no explicit evidence of anything wrong with TP Link routers. If you're procuring hardware for the US Gov, go ahead and worry about zero day nation state attacks, I guess. Though, you'll need to worry about anything made in China at that point, which is everything.

If you're a normal person, things like ongoing firmware updates and security features are a better metric for choosing a router.
You can get a dual band Gl.inet Flint 3e for about this price. If you want name brand, I like Asus stuff. I was getting security updates on routers that were 12 years old from them, which is rad.

They have stopped firmware updates on my ac68u.

They did no such thing. The commercial products use chips that are exploitable, and that's most brands.

Residential/consumer grade products do not.

I suggest you read the documentation the US gov published when they banned certain commercial products before you spout off.

Because there is no proof. The gov was warning about commercial grade products, not residential/consumer grade.

I hate router snobs and their disdain of affordable high quality products...they're always spouting off with nonsense.
