Powered by AA batteries? Non starter.
Have fun recharging your non-replaceable battery lantern during a power outage...!

For this lantern, on the other hand, you can pop in another set of eneloop AAs you have standing by. Best of both worlds...!

That runs the assumption that's the only thing this would be used for. Which it wouldn't. I have plenty of solutions for power outages, like a home backup battery. What a weird thing for you to get defensive over. Are you an AI bot from the company trying to promote this? Odd.
You butt hurt as well. Different use cases. Valid point on the batteries. No need to be called a bot.

I actually want this more more that it was pointed out it's not rechargeable.

Thanks to the comments from the forum.

Depends on how you measure it. Since it's a dispersed beam (aka flood), not that hard to get a 1,000 lumens. Remember, this is an LED -- not your grandpappy's tiny overheating incandescent bulb in a RADIOSHACK yellow & black flashlight. This is the end result of 40+ years of material science plus economies of scale.

you seem to know a bit about led's. I would be interested to know about a led which can give out 1000 lumens on 4.5 Volts DC voltage.

This one right here, as they have claimed. Do you have proof otherwise? Please, share with the rest of us.

Some of the reviews state batteries can't be installed due to bad manufacturing & QC of the battery terminals being bended or not in the correct position.

Must be old stock or user error, I had no issues with the four of them I bought about a week ago.

I have the version that has both an onboard rechargeable battery and replaceable batteries. It works great the only problem is I forget I have it since my house is drowning in low cost flashlights.

I was two days into a power outage before I remembered I had it, then brought it out and we were able to play boardgames and puzzles more easily.

Just got two of them and popped in fresh AA batteries. They are NOT 1000 lumen. Not even close. I have Eveready 350 lumen lanterns and these lanterns are lower than that. On their highest setting, it is slightly brigther - so maybe like 400 or 450 tops. These are going back - not worth $20 for this level of output
