I got it for about $120 from one of those Amazon returns stores two years, so hard to comment on the price. But I've used it a good amount since then, most recently hauling a 38 lb 3 year old around Glacier and Watertown. It's an excellent carrier overall. My child has never complained about comfort in it (sometimes in it a few hours at a time) and sometimes wants to get in it just to play.

The most recent expedition I found the straps to be digging into my shoulders nearly unbearably. If I were to take a child out at that weight/size in it again, I'd reinforce the straps with some yoga mat foam or something. Didn't notice an issue in seasons past. The lower compartment is quite spacious, holding several ~25 oz water bottles and supplies while evidently being waterproof.

It might depend on the countenance of your rider, but it's really an endearing time hearing your child chattering away and asking questions next to your ear. If they were screaming, I'm sure it'd suck. You can even leave your kid in it when you set it down, but make sure it's a wide, flat surface. I was recently on a more vertical hike where we were taking a water break and she must have leaned back from the rock I set her on. I turned around to find her rolling down the mountain several yards, scraping her elbow and snapping her classy pink rhinestone sunglasses.
