There's a lot of weird misinformation in this thread.

45W is absolutely capable of charging a laptop. MacBook Airs come with lower output chargers than this. I've charged a Dell workstation with discrete GPU with an Anker 30W. Laptops are not usually running at max output all the time.

The question comes down to use case, actual sustained power delivery, and device health. First, the laptop might not negotiate the full 45W. Even if it does, chargers like this are not made to run at full tilt forever. They tend to heat up, and then throttle, so you might lose the ability to charge part of the way through. Even with this built in protection, you absolutely can reduce the life of the charger, or even burn it out.

Additionally, at 45W you'll likely be "slow charging" larger devices, particularly if you're using it at the time. It might not be capable of keeping up depending on the workload and attached devices.

If you have a MacBook Air or something similar, you're probably fine. For anything else, I wouldn't use this as a primary charger, but if you need something light to travel with, you could probably make it work for a couple days. That's particularly true if you just charge it during downtime.

Thanks for sharing! I've had my eye on this for a while, but can't decide between this and the Prime ones with 2 USB-C

Honestly, I think everyone should just invest in a couple of the Anker Prime chargers. They're expensive, but they'll literally charge anything from your phone to a gaming laptop at lightning speeds.
45W isn't enough for a laptop is it? It seems like on the low side in my opinion for a laptop.

It's probably fine for a 45W device, but on more powerful chargers, these screens just mean that one side of the device is no longer able to dissipate heat, so more likely to throttle.

It varies quite widely. Laptops I've purchased or cross-shopped in the last decade came with USB-C chargers ranging from 30W to 100W+.

Knew these would fall in price fast. The screen is pointless. How many have an outlet in a place they can easily see a screen on it? And rarely does anyone want to slow charge.

$4 cheaper than 3 week ago... I don't have the energy to return and rebuy this one. It's a neat little charger, I use it to power my mini PC exclusively.

Why would the screen be pointless? I literally want this for the screen. It displays speed, and you can control it by changing it from fast charging to slow charging, and it gives you a whole bunch of information others dont. It even tells you your phone percentage without turning your phone on. Also it's a great charger it doesn't get the phone hot when charging at 45 watts

Nope, that hasn't been enough for 10 years or more. Your computer will negotiate and only accept what it can use from more powerful chargers, but if you can't/don't even provide the minimum, why bother with this.

Phone charger only and not a good deal IMO. Especially when you can frequently get a 140W (or more) on sale for $15 more.
I use my 45w charger on my ultrabook laptops all the time. It depends on the laptop. Obviously, it will not do well on a gaming laptop, but most ultrabooks will do just fine. You are not going to get super fast charging speed but most of the time, you can charge and use the laptop at the same time without issue. Macbook Air 13 will definitely do fine with a 45w charger (it can even do a 30w charger).

Does the screen show watts in use? To me that would be the most important thing.
