The S9 + lens bundle sits at this price most of the year, so I wouldn't call this a deal. Incredible camera though.

I never understood this camera. What's the point of a small full frame, when you're attaching an f/5.6 lens to it? If they had a few small primes it would make a lot more sense.

I am wanting to take hiking & travel photos mostly. Would the 50mm lens be better than the 18-40mm?

I m not sure if prime 50mm would work for travel at all, but price sounds like a good deal. 50mm retails at $360. What's the amex offer?

I had this camera for over a year now. Been on several trips with me. This is awesome for run and gun video. My last trip I got a lot of great footage without my DJI Ronin 4S. I don't have this lens but that is a great focal length and size for travel. Obviously if you are want super shallow depth of field, you'll need to get one of the bigger primes. I think a small hand grip is required since it is so small though.

I have this kit plus a few other lenses. The 18-40 zoom in this kit is very compact - it is smaller than some micro 43 lenses when not extended. It makes for a great travel camera. You can carry it around and not have it stand out or weigh you down. The wide end is great for landscapes and zoomed in, its ok for city shooting. I can fit this kit lens and camera body into a large coat pocket. Since it is full frame with in body image stabilization, you get great images in low light from the big sensor. The only competitor in this space is the Sony A7C which costs more.

You can definitely get fast primes and small primes but you'll usually get one or the other - they do not have autofocus small fast primes yet. There's a lot of manual focus small primes if that is what you like.
