the camera doesnt have a capable mechanical or e shutter, essentially a travel video camera, and for that, it's absolutely amazing IMO, just not good for photos.... my daughter likes a more hybrid approach since she really likes taking photos, the Canon V1 is an alternative to this that can take flash, although a bit clunky since it's really small and all native flashes are rather large.

I love this camera and it is one of the few things I paid almost full price for in my life. I use everything Sony when it comes to full frame and compact, but this is my one exception.

The lens is hyper compact. This whole thing has a full frame sensor and can fit into a large pocket. There are a ton of other lens choices on the market however.
