Super Mario RPG on Switch is a charming, short, and easygoing remake that keeps the original's appeal while adding smoother movement, responsive turn based combat, and timed inputs that can boost damage. The graphics feel refreshed, and the familiar characters and Bowser sections add to the cozy, playful tone. The main drawback is the much lower difficulty, with normal attacks and splash damage making the game feel far easier than the original, though boss rematches still add some challenge. The price also looks high versus recent sales in the $15 to $20 range.
Common Questions (3)
The Switch version is much easier than the original, with several comments calling it way too easy and noting it has almost no difficulty. Boss rematches are harder and more fun, but the main game is still described as shallow and low-challenge.
Several comments say it is not a great price because the game has been available for about $15-20 multiple times, including a $15 GameStop sale. At $33.79, it is better to wait for another sale if you can.
A full playthrough is relatively short, with one comment estimating about 10-15 hours. The story is described as linear and short, so it fits well as a quick, cozy RPG rather than a long challenge.
