Bought mine good condition for 440 back in December. It was just missing the stand. Not a dent but just a little brown mark that I wiped away with a clean wipe. Box was a bit crusty but everything works great

yeah, I got a z1 extreme open box a month ago for $484 and it didn't include anything but the device was somehow in flawless condition (I say somehow cause I've had very mixed luck with bb open box items).

"The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme (Z1E) is significantly faster for gaming than the Ryzen Z2A, outperforming it by 35% to 50% in multi-threaded tasks and AAA games. However, the Z2A offers better power efficiency and longer battery life for lighter, casual gaming."

Make sure to mute audio - it's annoying (both videos at once).

Yup! I personally went with the much older Ally Z1E but it was on sale for $484 open-box excellent last month. The ROG Xbox Ally should be more ergonomic though so if you're looking for just casual indie or emulation games that don't need heavy processing then it should be generally okay.

Wow glad I got my bro a z1e factory refurb for $400 last June since he was going to be traveling a lot for our gaming sessions. I thought to get one for myself to replace my G Cloud but will wait...

I got this from the costco deal when they had the 4 free games with it for $499.

IMO, this is good for this price as long as you have your expectations in check. You are not going to be playing the latest games at 60fps on this. As an example, I can play Forza Horizon 6 at ~40 fps everything set to low, but it looks and plays fine on the small screen. It is comfortable. It has good battery life on less intense games. for example I have played Hades 2 for 4-5+ hours on battery.

Windows is fine, has some quirks, but if you use gamepass you will want to run windows. Supposedly works well with bazzite or steamOS, but I have not tried it out.

I use this case with mine, cheap and works great (kind of bulky though)

yeah, I've been waiting for that to come back and unsure if it ever will. ASUS' xbox ally's I believe are the only ones left that haven't seen a price increase.
