2 things i really really dislike about this monitor is that
The grey banding exist and it is very distracting in situation where you have a darkish/grey background. I absolutley see it in vscode. or sometimes just browisng the web when it becomes a grey tone. and its not subtle. it literally looks like a defect. maybe i lost panel lottery but real dissapointment. its fine in games when theres no grey background.....
#2. the next biggest issue is the damn vrr flickering. if you have fps that is constantly fluctuating , it will do some weird ab! flickering , low bright, high brightness. You literally cannot play this monitor with unlocked fps and let freesync/gsync handle it. it truly disgusting. only way to fix this is locked refresh rate/ locked fps......
With all these issues i honestly regret buying this monitor. my hp 27q 1440p 165hz monitor that im using as a side monitor is just so much pain free in comparison (except darker blacks) ive told my friends this, oled is just not ready yet. i would wait a couple more years until they fix the banding/vrr flickering
I appreciate your honesty in your review, it certainly gives me pause before I make a decision to upgrade an older Cooler Master 27-in OLED that in my opinion doesn't get bright enough but it's several years old. Do you think the issues you are seeing is something that LG might possibly address in some kind of firmware update at some point in the future?
I have an 83-in LG G6 2026 model OLED television that I bought right after launch and that had a myriad of issues, many have been addressed through firmware updates although as gorgeous as it is, even that is a work in progress.
Thanks again, you shared some great information and while this monitor isn't the crazy spend that the 83-in OLED TV was, nonetheless I'd hate to have any kind of buyers regret. I own a 32-in Asus ROG Swift 2025 model QD OLED gaming monitor as well and while it isn't perfect either, I'm certainly not going through anything you're as bad as you are with it, generally I'm pretty happy with it and maybe I'll just stick to that technology on the 27-in 1440p gaming monitor that I need for my son.
