Or just load it up with ice and grind it up. Flush it with soapy water and voila.

Ice falls victim to gravity, how can you clean the top and sides? Not to mention, dulls the heck out of the blades over time (if done often).

That being said, a baby bottle brush from the dollar (.75) store bent can do exactly the same thing as this.

And false. Garbage disposals don't have sharp blades; they have blunt metal "impellers" or lugs that sling food against a perforated grind ring. Ice just does a fantastic job of blasting away the gunk stuck to them. Add some salt and line and it even smells better.

True, impellers that can be rounded and I never said "sharp." Round objects don't grind very well...do they? Nope, that's why they don't use ball bearings Wink

And again, I clearly mentioned clearing SIDES and TOP of the disposal. Ice doesn't get "slung" against the top and sides.

Try a little experiment. Throw ice in a blender and see how much ice hits the top of the blender when grinding the ice or does the ice keep falling? The existence of gravity will amaze you.

But yes, ice does a good job against the blades / impellers, whatever you want to call them to move the goalpost 3 miles down the road. I never disputed that. However this bell shape clearly ain't for that. LOL...

I use this. Much better for about the same price and has multiple uses.
