I always feel skeptical about openbox computers. Any opinions?
I ended up grabbing a Zenbook S16 from the last go around of clearances. Was "Good" condition and came without a scratch or ding and runs flawless. But I've also had an Open Box "Excellent" condition Legion Go 2 arrive it atrocious packaging and missing accessories. Difference is that I grabbed the ASUS local and the Legion Go 2 I got through the mail. If i were you, I'd check them out in person to see the condition and choose which one is best if they have more than one.

I also picked up the zenbook s16 in good condition, it was like brand new complete with charger. Great deal! It's a hit or miss with Best Buy. I usually roll the dice and see what the condition will end up. Keep or return lol
Don't bother. They're checked by some geek squad member for about 30s and put for resale. Consider it damaged in some way.
Not always true. I just picked up an open box Asus Zephyrus G14 in "good" condition from Best Buy and it was flawless. Saved almost $800. Not a scratch anywhere and no issues with anything. Probably got lucky. I have to admit I was a bit worried it might be beat it up. I do recommend getting the best buy plus membership if you're going to be buying something pricey as you get 60 days to return instead of the normal 15 days.

I should add that I picked up the laptop locally. I also asked them to open the box and check it out first to make sure everything was there. I don't know if this is true but I've heard items marked "good" condition are usually inspected more than the ones that are "excellent". I'm guessing that "excellent" means the return happened right away and they don't always inspect them thoroughly.

I bought an Open Box Asus from BB. Worked til the warranty almost expired; got a screen replaced. Warranty doesn't start over. Screen died a couple months later. Too bad, so sad. I will never buy an Open Box again.

Purchased Open Box Excellent Omnibook X. It was unused, like the previous buyer returned it sealed and BB opened it to check contents. 900usd discount.

It's an Asus thing. I've gone through 2 batteries on maybe 200hrs.

If the laptop was returned with little or no usage, and put up as open-box, who cares how long a Geek Squad guy checked it out? The reality is that it is a complete random experience where you may get a perfect unit when buying FAIR condition or you may get a beater when buying Excellent. In my experience, I've received a box without a laptop and also a 5 year old laptop of the same brand but definitely not what I bought.

Nobody resets the warranty on a repair. You get what you got when you purchased. The thing with Asus open box from BB is you may end up with much less warranty than you think as Asus starts the warranty when first purchased. BB covers the rest but with a deductible.

Yeah, no. State laws vary, but in my experience the warranty is in full effect for the full duration from the final retail sale. You might have to jump through extra hoops and show a receipt, but the law's the law.
