GoPro is on the brink of insolvency. They've been looking for a merger or sale for a long time, and it hasn't been going well. The stock is down to $0.76 from a high of nearly $100 in their heyday.

Fire sale grade deals on their hardware may not be far off.

What's with the fins? Did they actually design these things not to overheat in 90F temperatures after 10 minutes? Totally useless for the outdoors when you discover it turned off 30 minutes later.

I had mine going for about 45 mins straight. I ran out of memory recording 360. Fins did a great job.

Cover those lenses!

I had the 1st gen and as careful as I was, it still got hair line scratches. Plus, the editing back then = sold.

I had the original also. That camera alone almost turned me away from gopro for good. I ended up buying a hero 9 and haven't purchased a new gopro since. Owning the original fusion taught me what terrible development and support gopro has for their cameras once they are released. I but ended up buying a new rig just to stitch and render that camera's footage. Anything other than recording the footage was painful with that camera. I was so careful with it but like you I still managed a scratched lens. Even the issues I haven't liked about my hero 9 along with the original fusion are enough I think that my next action cam will be something different. For what I will use it for, integrated into sun glasses would be the best for me however I don't need or care for meta being integrated on current models.

I feel bad for GoPro. They created a consumer gadget category and owned it for a long time, but eventually got slapped down by the competition that was able to innovate faster AND sell units at cost to cement their place. I spoke with a former employee at a trade event who said the internal problem they faced was the long lag times on their R&D. Whenever they needed to create updates to engineering prototypes, they had to wait a minimum of 10 days to receive from the fabs, whereas DJI engineering was located 20 minutes from the fab at their China HQ, and they could get same-day updates to their prototypes.

...Anyways, if you're not glued to the Insta360 or DJI ecosystems, this is a really good deal considering the performance GoPro has gotten out of this latest generation!

For those of you who bought, how's it looking? Mine was super dusty but looking at some unboxing videos that seems due to the packaging.

Unfortunately mine isn't charging. Charger reads 0.1w and after 20 minutes no sign of life. I wonder if leaving the battery in it caused it to fail.
It's also missing the tightening knob and usbc cable. Overall a not a favorable experience.
Have bought Best Buy open box in the past with no issues
