This ZIPAIR one way fare to Tokyo stands out as a cheap way to get to Japan, especially from West Coast and select U.S. cities. The real savings are on the outbound, while return flights from Japan are often much pricier, sometimes sold out or pushing the total trip close to regular sale pricing. Summer travel also comes with brutal heat, humidity, and mosquitoes, though October is described as much more comfortable. Onboard Wi Fi is also unreliable, so downloading entertainment ahead of time makes sense.
The outbound one-way fare can be very low from LAX, making the initial Tokyo leg affordable.
Japan trip costs may be driven largely by taxes and fees, with some attractions charging relatively small add-on amounts.
October travel conditions can be more comfortable, with temperatures in the 70s and less humidity.
Some travelers can reduce onboard connectivity risk by downloading content in advance before departure.
Return flights from Japan to the US can be much higher than the one-way fare, with pricing often near $700-$1000 or more.
Tokyo summer heat and humidity can make the trip unpleasant, with mosquitoes adding discomfort outdoors.
Onboard Wi‑Fi claims may be unreliable, and getting the Wi‑Fi to work can be difficult.
Departure tax and other tourism-related costs have risen over the past year, which can increase overall trip expenses beyond the flight deal.
