I have one of these and wish it had way more functionality. If all you want is something to read or write some journals, it's fine. But I can't help but think I should've gotten one of those Android eReaders.

I just went to the Target here in Dublin, California, and they had one left. The price tag said it was marked down from $399 to $279, but when I asked an employee to check it in the system, it came up as only $119. What an amazing deal!!!!!

Had 2 at my store listed for 50%, $199.
Had an employee scan to check the price and $199 was right, so YMMV for sure.

I actually left one on the shelf. It was locked behind a glass case and didn't want my reflection in the picture.

Like most Kindles, the CPU in this thing is brutally slow. It takes several seconds to navigate around to anything.

It's nice enough for reading textbooks, taking notes, and reading books but if you don't need epaper then an iPad is a much smoother experience. I really wish Amazon would stop cheaping out on their chipsets, even little $50 Ambernic handhelds feel much faster these days.

I think this should be the new trend for all YMMV posts. The empty shelf really sets the tone, even if they're still available.

Yeah, that's my biggest issue with these type of devices.

I completely agree with you on all the points except the chipsets. Unfortunately, the problem is the e-paper technology itself (pigmented particles that can't move around without a proper screen refresh), not the processor that runs it. Improving the processor might make the whole system a little bit faster, but you can't mimic the snappy performance of an iPad with an e-paper device. This is the trade-off we need to accept if we are going for any eink system, be it boox/kindle/amazon/bigme/remarkable. Potential buyers getting their first device should go to any Best Buy and check one themselves before grabbing one, rather than assuming this will be a notebook/tablet killer. Personally, I find the system great and feel like I'm looking at a piece of paper rather than a digital screen. However, speed is the compromise I need to make for them.
