What in the world happened to this brand? When I used to sell Cutco knives Henckels was known as one of the best in the market, wtf is now trash? Are they in financial trouble, How do they even make a profit like this when they used to sell for hundreds of dollars

Speaking of Cutco, can confirm they stay sharp. Cut myself pretty deep a few days ago washing one. So 1/10 experience, but 10/10 sharpness. Cut so cleanly I didn't even need stitches

Some of Henckels lines are made in Spain. Those review well around the internets.

This is a completely different animal aka budget kennel's knifes line, used to be made in Spain now in China . You can buy even cheaper - the same re- branded and so called German steel knives without Henkels logo .

I purchased this set 16 years ago when they first came out and cannot recommend them enough. The set included these 5 knives and scissors, and also additionally a honing steel, knife block and 6 fine-edge serrated knives at Target for $149. They have been washed in the dishwasher every day (as my wife does not believe in hand washing knives). So, I sharpen them every 3-6 months with spiderco sharpeing rods and they keep a near razor edge for a good amount of time. I also have a set of Zwilling Four Star Knives which are the nicer, German made knives and are only hand washed. That steel is harder and do hold an edge longer, but my guess is the average person would really not notice a big difference. These feel like a much more premium knife than priced. If you don't need the knife block, this is a no brainer. Also, the customer service is great. We dropped a knife in tile and it broke in half, and I sent it to Henkels with a note and a few weeks later, had a new knife in the mail.

They may be called 'Forged Premio", but they're not really all that premium. While they may not be trash like many made in China knives, they certainly try and distract you with the 'German stainless steel knives'. (ie. not German knives, just knives with German steel in them.)
PS. The real Henckel 'twin' knives have an image of two figures on the blade. The cheaper lines, like this and Henckles International only have a single figure.

EDIT: TO clarify, apparently "Henckels", "Henckels International", and "Zwilling" are all lines of products under the Zwilling JA Henckels company. Zwilling (Henckels Twin) being their premium line with the twin figures on the blades, and the others being more value oriented with single figure.
