But it is a fantastic machineIf I did not, I would be buying the 15 inch model for 1050 today.I personally think it is easily worth $150 more than the 13 inchMy decision is partly because I already have a 13 inch iPad and feel those two devices are a little too similar but for someone that doesn't or that wants the smaller machine or the cheaper machine 850 is a very good dealNow that the base model air finally has acceptable specs.
There's nothing wrong with the base model. In fact the base model is the only model that makes sense. If I was going to spend money upgrading the air, I would probably look at the pro base model instead.

I think it is a 14-day window. They just priced matched both of mine via chat.
I told them it was in stock before their customer service/chat opened. [Edit: Which was true for the $849 13" one]
They partner with Ingram Micro for these, which is one of Apple's largest distributors and the world's largest technology distributor.
Who knows how these things work. They [Ingram] could have seen slumping sales projections with the major price hike, a large inventory on hand, and said, hey, let's throw a bone to the military people.
