If you already have the bar, it would be much more effective to do regular deadlifts. With landmines the bar travels up and out. With deadlifts you want the bar to go straight up and down.

Cheaper than prime price. I got it with some minor scuffs but its pretty solid. Simple to put together.

Hex trap bars are much better for dead lifts

How is this better/different than a straight barbell? Are you supposed to use grip strength to keep the weight suspended away from your body?

The bar that this silly thing attaches to, which a buyer would already have, is better for deadlifts cause it costs nothing

I guess I don't agree that free == better.

I think a better argument would be around that fact that a standard barbell is consistent and reliable. Specifically, you go to just about anything nicer than a hotel gym and you'll find one. Because of this, learning to do a wide variety of exercises with the basics (bar/dumb/kettlebells, rack, flat/adjustable bench, etc) is incredibly beneficial. For so many things in life, keeping things simple is the best answer in the long run.

If barbell and landmine deadlifts were equivalent, then yes, the free version would be better. But I agree with you. That argument alone is not a good answer.

All that being said, can anyone comment on how well this works as a front squat variant? Compared to a basic front squat, this would have you pushing more forward than straight up. It would be more challenging to start the exercise with a heavy load if this was on the ground. And I've found that it's ideal to make traditional barbell squatting variants my bread and butter.

Adding in different variants, especially as secondary or accessory exercises, seems to be a good compliment to basic front and back squats with a barbell. Squats like overhead, goblet, belt, and Bulgarian split, along with various lunge and step up variations. Also, different squatting variants can be helpful for those with injuries or mobility issues. Simply changing the mechanics a bit might allow someone to get a good range of motion with little or no discomfort.
