I have a closer that probably hasn't been replaced in 20 years and the magnet on the stopper is still too weak.
3M VHB tape would be my recommendation (Scotch Heavy Duty and Gorilla Tape Max Strength aren't strong enough at 2"x2"), but you'll have to prep both surfaces for it to stand a chance.
Other than that, maybe construction adhesive?

It has the option for using 3m tape rather than screws but screw still come with it as an alternative.
