Thoughts on this product from the folks here? I need a lappy for a nursing student. No gaming, but want it to be fast, quiet and last at least 3-4 years.

This only has a 4-core CPU: 1 performance core + 3 efficient cores.

Personally, I want something with at least 6 total cores at this point in time for multitasking.

Better yet, one of the official Apple Refurb MacBook Airs. They are virtually identical to new, but for a nice discount. Don't buy a a Macbook Neo.

If you want to stick with Windows, the Lenovo above is fine, but this isn't an especially great deal, with the OLED panel being the main draw.

This Lenovo is a decent choice. One of the advantage of this lenovo is that it will give you the ability to also write hand written notes if that is important to you. Keep in mind, if you don't plan on using the 2-in-1 feature, you could potentially get a better speced windows laptop at a similar or lower price.

But as others said, a Macbook will probably serve you better in terms of portability, reliability, and battery life, and can potentially be more useful if you already have an iPhone or plan on getting on in the future.

A Macbook Neo should last you 4 years as long as you know for sure you plan on using it mainly for school work and streaming videos and are aware of its limiations due to the 8 GB ram. If you want to comfortably use it beyond 3-4 years getting a Macbook with 16 GB is highly recommended.

If you do plan on going the windows route, go for one with a Ryzen processor like this one or laptops with Intel core Ultra 3 or core Ultra 2 processors (Use Chatgpt or something similar to help you get a better gauge of performance and battery life).

Honestly, wish this laptop had a better Ryzen Chip or used one of the Intel lunar lake chips instead of this specific Ryzen chip.

Did you guys notice there aren't many HP deals going around. One would say that the strategy with soldered ram, cheap mbs didn't work so great for them...

As a nurse, there's a lot of drawings and figures that need to be done more than note taking with diagrams and whatnot. Depends on how the nursing student will use it. Specific to the RN pathway since they would be using it to write flow charts, markup drawings, writing useless nursing care plans, and initially learning pathophysiology, the touchscreen with a pen could be nice. Although, I see a lot of students use an iPad and a Mac and iPhone even if they study that way. For an advanced nursing degree, I could see it being less useful since they'd be building on/solidifying already known stuff; I personally never drew/marked up things.
