Shark 800 is significantly better air pressure, flow, fan spray size, and even-ness of the spray pattern, and that one can spray a lot more volune of liquid as well as thicker liquids more evenly while this one will be more speckled with less atomization when trying to spray thicker paint but it still works decently well for thinner paints/stains/etc. This one still works a lot better than you'd expact any $20 sprayer to work, though. I have this model as well as the cordless version that uses a DeWalt battery, the Shark 800, and the non-Shark 800 version which doesn't have the side refill port or come with the 4th nozzle size. If you want to paint a large surface area such as a big fence or multiple rooms of a house get the Shark 800 as it has about a 33% wider fan spray and it will also lay down double? the amount of paint per minute compared to this one if you use the largest nozzle diameter that it comes with. Maybe even more? I haven't measured their exact flow rates but my best guess is the Shark 800 will be able to complete the same painting job in roughly half the time that this one can do it in.

How's this compare to the floor-based model on sale last week?

Thank you! I was wondering if this would do well to stain a furniture piece with detailed carvings.

This one should work fine for your task, or any smaller painting/staining jobs spraying liquids that aren't very thick.
