This refurbished ROG Strix GA15 is a budget starter gaming desktop with a Ryzen 7 5800X, 16 gigabytes of RAM, and a 1 terabyte SSD, best suited for 1080p play. The CPU and storage make it a strong entry point, and the platform has some upgrade room with four RAM slots and room to swap in a better graphics card later. The GTX 1660 Ti is the main limit, with low to medium settings and no DLSS or ray tracing support. The case and included parts are also described as basic, with poor airflow and a generic power supply, so it is a compact value build that may need upgrades down the line.

  • The platform offers upgrade paths, including spare RAM DIMM slots and potential GPU upgrades later.

  • A targeted coupon can reduce the purchase price further to about $379.

  • The Ryzen 7 5800X with GTX 1660 Ti can serve as a decent entry point for moving from console gaming.

  • The 2x8-pin GPU connector layout suggests the power supply may support future graphics upgrades.

  • The case cooling and airflow are described as poor, with comments calling it a zero-airflow "hot box."

  • The GTX 1660 Ti limits gaming to 1080p with low or medium settings and may be phased out by newer 8GB VRAM requirements.

  • The unit can experience booting failures like blue screens and occasional no-video output, with ASUS replacements reported as out of stock.

  • The GTX 1660 Ti is described as outdated, and the price paid for it is criticized as unreasonable in today's market.

Don't let the ROG name fool you. It has the most basic cooler on the CPU. The bottom of the line ASUS motherboard. A generic power supply. I have the 5700 version of it which I got for an insurance replacement that needed to be close to the same config as the damaged computer.

For this price, you could part it out.

No longer available, but was hard to beat from a value perspective while it lasted.

You'd get 70% of Steam Machine's GPU performance, double the storage, and comparable CPU performance (better multithreading on the Asus due to 8 CPU cores) all for hundreds less than a current gen console. Good upgrade potential as well (4 DIMM slots for RAM, only two occupied).

Main downside: no DLSS or RT support on GTX series cards and supports FSR 2 at the latest.

Did anyone else get this message from the seller? Or am I the only lucky one Frown

We sincerely appreciate your purchase. As part of our quality control process, we test all units before shipping, including manufacturer-refurbished items.

Unfortunately, this PC is experiencing a booting issue (blue screen) and occasionally displays no video output. Shipping the unit in its current condition would likely result in a return and cause additional inconvenience.

We have requested a replacement from ASUS; however, it is currently out of stock. Please let us know if you would prefer to wait for the replacement or cancel your order for a full refund.

At this time, ASUS has not provided an estimated restock date. Based on our previous experience, the last replacement took more than four months to become available.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding. We look forward to your instructions.

Best regards,

Nobody in their right mind would pay $150 for a 1660ti in today's market. Not even $100.

The same thing happened to me. Bad seller practices.
