These are the best for finish carpentry. I always keep them in my tool bag.

I somehow got a 0.9mm mechanical pencil in high school in the 90s. I assume it came from a box of junk my dad bought.

I kept it in my bag just for Scantron tests - it was perfect for efficiently bubbling in answers.

I have been carrying these for work for over a decade. I am in facilities maintenance. I mainly do electrical work, but also some construction, remodeling, fabrication, etc. These are the best I have found. The lead holds up more better than the smaller stuff. Their biggest weakness is the plastic holder around the eraser is too thin and it breaks. Once it breaks the eraser won't stay in and you loose all of your lead. Luckily they are cheap and come in big packs, so I just throw it away and grab another one.

These make great classroom prizes, especially for elementary students still learning how to write. From one teacher to another 🤜🤛

I like to keep a few of those in the car because no matter what the temperature, a pencil will write. No need to worry about sharpening this one, obviously, and the thicker lead makes it easier to use in various conditions without constantly breaking the lead.
