Really great price for really great mics. I went through 2 pairs of cheap wireless lavalier mics before getting the 2s and they just work with no problems.

The upgrades on the 3s aren't enough of a reason for me to upgrade for my needs but damn am I tempted.

One tradeoff with the 3s instead of the 2s is that the 3s no longer have a port for an external lavalier, you can only use the onboard microphone. May not be a concern for most people, but a deal breaker for others. The 3s are significantly smaller, so I think that was a necessary removal to get the size down

Exactly, that's a total dealbreaker for me. The 32-bit float is a nice addition, but removing the 3.5mm input makes absolutely no sense. I need the ability to run a lav or a shotgun mic because I definitely don't want those transmitters visible in my shots.

These mics are clearly aimed at Youtubers, streamers, etc. that want a concealable mic without the hassle of running a separate lav mic. Your point is valid, I just think these mics are designed to be small and clipped on with minimal hassle. The mic 2 is still the choice if you're running lav mics externally.

This is a good deal on great mics. If you need a cheaper option, the DJI Mic Mini sets have been on sale for a while. $45 for the 2 TX + 1 Mobile RX set is a good setup for many amateur uses. If you need a charging case they have a set for about $79.

What you lose is the backup track that the DJI mic2 and 3 record to the mic itself. This makes sure you have audio recorded even if there is some reason the wireless connection fails. For professionals or people trying to capture something really important that you can't redo, it can be a lifesaver of a feature.

If you just want to improve audio on your short videos, you might be served well enough with the Mic Mini.

Also, Hollyland makes some great wireless mics too, if you are exploring your options.

This was a dealbreaker for me since I film professional content and needed a way to connect lavs. I have the DJI Mic 2 setup, but now since I need 4TX -> 1RX functionality and still have lavs, I've migrated to the Insta360 Mic Pro setup. Granted they have a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, it does work well enough to connect a lav to it. And they have all of the important features I need (local recording on device as backup in 32-bit float, timecode integration, etc).
