Great bag, I've had the 65L version (older model) for over 7 years now and it's been handling great. Just note that the Farpoint/Fairview series are gonna be slightly better comfortability wise if you're gonna be wearing it around everywhere you travel. That being said, I usually just need my backpack to get me from the airport to the hotel and I'm rarely ever wearing it, so I'd rather have the extra 6 liters and huge duffel style packing over the smaller 40L Farpoint with two smaller, pre-portioned pockets.
Laptop on the Porter also sits close to your back whereas (at least the older models) of the Farpoint have it on the outside of the pack. I think Farpoint is for one baggers who hike and bring their bags around while the Porter is more for of a business oriented or "stuff as much as you can and never wear it"

For my type of travel (walk through airport to gate, board, get off, get to rental car and then to a hotel) the Porter just works better. 5 day business travel and 3-4 day personal trips are the norm for me. I was able to pack for a 7 day trip in the winter that included South Florida and Oregon (work/personal) in it just fine.
Packing cubes are your friends.
Porter 46 fits in overhead bins on Delta planes (large bins)and Alaska Airlines Embraer 175 fine. Too large for under the seat though whereas I can make the Farpoint 40 fit under the seat.
Great travel pack if you aren't wearing it for extended periods walking through cities, villages, etc.
