i have a 125G tank with a FX6 filter with the outlet hoses pointed at the surface to agitate the water. i find that it generates enough oxygen that an air pump isn't needed in my case but maybe there are other benefits to having an air pump?

Water agitation is the magic. I'm going to use it to test moving fluidized media in a sump for a 210g.

I have air stones but only the ones with built in batteries. This way when the power goes out you still get oxygen in the water and move it around.
