This Metabo HPT 18 gauge cordless brad nailer kit stands out as a compact, lighter version of the newer signature model, with the extra 2.0Ah battery making the bundle more appealing. The nailer is described as reliable for years without misfires, and the smaller, lighter design should help in tight spaces and trim work like moulding or dresser drawers. Pricing context puts it ahead of similar offers at Amazon and Lowe's, especially since extra Metabo batteries are usually pricey. The main catch is the shipping math on the bonus battery, which can push the effective total up a bit unless the cart is adjusted. A strong value if you want a portable brad nailer kit with battery backup.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. The kit is described as a strong buy because the included extra 2.0Ah battery adds value, and comparable pricing is usually around $169 at Lowe's or about $199 on sale elsewhere. The bonus battery can also make the effective total about $165.49 after shipping, still below typical sale pricing.

  • Yes. It is the NT1850DFTM, not the older NT1850DG/NT1850DGM spring nailer or the older BF-era 18-gauge model. The NT1850DFTM is described as 30% more compact and 31% lighter, which helps in tight spaces.

  • Yes. It is recommended for trim moulding and dresser-drawer work, and long-term owners report no misfires or failures. It is also described as lighter than Milwaukee's equivalent, which helps with maneuverability.

  • Yes, if the cart total stays under $200, the bonus battery adds $6.49 shipping. Adding another item to reach $199 can trigger free shipping, or removing the bonus battery avoids that charge.

  • The included extra battery is valuable because replacement Metabo HPT batteries can be pricey and do not go on sale often. That said, 2.0Ah 18V batteries are also described as commonly available around $25, so pricing depends on the exact battery and platform.

You're confusing the NT1850DF (this one) with the NT1850DG on Amazon. The DG is a spring nailer, this is the better air nailer.

$159 is a screaming deal on this. I don't know why the other poster said Metabo HPT batteries are expensive, they're some of the cheapest ones out there, the 2.0ah 18v can be found for $25 pretty regularly (and are liberally sprinkled in kits) and Acme had the Multivolts on sale earlier this week. (They might be thinking of German Metabo, which is confusingly a different platform, this is Hitachi Power Tools.)
I don't know much about Metabo, so I appreciate you pointing out the difference. Seems significant. I'm team Dewalt, but their brad nailer doesn't seem great, so I might jump on this deal.

Metabo (HPT Metabo) had stock selling through Lowe's and other vendors. About 3 years ago, Lowes started super-deep-discounting of all HPT, and I made out like a bandit.

Hitachi was always a good brand (corded saws), I'd say above the best average but nothing like woodworking equipment.

Turns out, Lowes was making way for selling Kobalt AND Craftsman so the manufacturer is once again at the big-box agenda.

I downsized my 'batteried' tools:
No Dewalt, No Miluakee M18 (I kept a few of the M12)

I have Ridgid for vacuums.
Some M12 tools like a rotary tool and the stapler (turned out to be the best for getting between studs).
Ryobi 60V - got a blower and the auger (auger pays for itself in the size; everything above is 2-man)
Then there are a few odds and ends one-tools like Bosch, Dremel, Stihl

The 18V/36V multivolt was done right; there's enough power on the big tools, and you can use a 36V battery on the lightweight tools for a long time.

These metabo brad nailers are great for $49 if you can do pneumatic. I have a cheap 3 gallon compressor and it's been plenty: https://www.amazon.com/Metabo-HPT...B07MK88Q33
