Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves on DVD is a fun fantasy adventure that lands better than expected and works well as a one time watch. The movie gets praised as surprisingly enjoyable and well done, with the disc format appealing for easy, small storage on a media server. At $5, the price feels reasonable for a physical copy when streaming is not available. The main drawback is the format itself, since DVD is seen as dated and only a strong deal at much lower prices.
Fantasy fans wanting a one-time watch, because the movie is fun and worth $5 when streaming is unavailable.
Price is the main reason: DVDs are cheaper, while Blu-ray typically runs about $5-$7 and 4K about $10-$12. DVDs also remain popular because they are easy and small to store, and some buyers prefer them over larger-format discs.
Yes, if you expect to watch it once and do not already have it on a streaming service. The movie is described as surprisingly fun and fairly entertaining, making $5 a reasonable buy for a one-time viewing.
The DVD is a practical choice if you want a small, easy-to-store disc that still looks fine in a media server setup. It is also a low-cost way to own the movie without paying Blu-ray or 4K prices.
UH, no one wants a DVD movie instead of a Blu-ray or 4K..
It's actually strange, but DVD is still outsell Blu-ray and 4K discs, even in 2026 with about 50 to 60% of new discs sold being in that format. Blu-rays trail at 20-25% so DVDs outsell Blu-rays 2-3 to 1. 4K discs are only about 20% of sales. There's kind of a weird thing where people are moving away from Blu-rays and either going higher end with 4K discs (where sales are increasing) or opting for the less expensive DVDs.

To be fair, I think the main reason DVDs are still selling well is the price.
Blu-rays are just too expensive. I personally prefer digital library out of sheer laziness.

That's a huge part of it. A large number of those sales are attributed to places like Walmart where you can pick up a 2 or 3 movie sets for $5.
You probably already know if you like/want this movie, but as a fantasy snob, a movie snob, and a D&D snob, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and think it's a very fun well done movie. If you think you'll watch it once, and don't have a streaming service that offers it, I'd say it's well worth the $5.

I recently saw a symphony perform the score live along with the movie. The film's composer conducted the orchestra. It was surprisingly enjoyable. I had only seen the movie once before and I recalled it being fairly entertaining.
